Health Newsmakers — New President
LAKEVILLE — Dr. Julia F. Edelman has been elected president of the Bristol North District Medical Society, one of 20 district medical societies comprising the Massachusetts Medical Society. The Bristol North District has some 200 physician members.
A member of the medical society since 1984, Edelman is a board-certified obstetrician-gynecologist and certified menopause clinician with a gynecology practice in Middleboro. She is the author of Menopause Matters: Your Guide to a Long and Healthy Life, a book about women's health for adult women 35 and older. She is also a member of the society's House of Delegates, an alternate member of its Board of Trustees, and a member of the Committee on Legislation.
Other officers elected to serve for the 2010-2011 year are: Vice President, Dr. Eric J. Ruby, a board-certified pediatrician in private practice in Taunton; Secretary, Dr. David F. Gouveia, a board-certified surgeon in Taunton; Treasurer, Dr. Charles A. Thayer, a board-certified surgeon in Taunton.
